Artist Lineup for Bacardi NH7 Weekender

 

NH7 Weekender Bangalore will see a plethora of brilliant artists. Right from heavy metal band Testament to the breezy Raghu Dixit project. This festival has got them all. Get ready Bangalore to rock your socks off.

Testament

Testament is thrash metal band hailing from California, USA. The group formed in 1983 and since then has been giving heavy metal fanatics some real heavy music. Testament has released ten studio albums, four live albums, six compilation albums, and six singles. This is their first time in India and fans are eagerly waiting for them to perform at the NH7 festival.

Periphery

Periphery is an American progressive metal band and is famous for their modern, heavy new-age sound. Their polyrhythmic songs and fast-paced catchy melodies make Periphery a force to reckon with. Periphery has released two studio albums, one EP and two singles till date. This is one band the new-era of metal fans of India love.

Bauchklang

Bauchklang is an Austrian beatboxing group formed in 1996. This five-piece "vocal groove" project consists of Alex Boeck (human bass, vocals), Bina (human beatbox, mouth percussions, vocals), Andi Fraenzl (lead vocals), Gerald Huber (human beatbox, vocals), and Phil Sageder (vocals, mouth percussions). Bauchklang has toured India regularly since 2008 and are signed to Blue Frog Records. In 2009 they released a live album titled Live In Mumbai which was a recording of one of their sold out gigs at the Blue Frog club. They have released six albums, the most recent being Signs. In 2011 they released a limited edition vinyl/EP Le Mans of club-oriented tracks.

 

Black Rock Arena

 

The Black Rock Arena has a superb line-up. Warren Mendonsa's Blackstrat Blues, Classic Rock legends Parikrama, Electronica-rock band Pentagram, Melodic death metal giants Demonic Resurrection, New-age metal band Goddess Gagged, Metal band Scribe, Groove metal band Bhayanak Maut, local heavy metal band Kryptos and many more will feature on this stage. This is one stage no rock/metal lover should miss.

The Dewarists Stage

 

The Dewarists stage in the last two renditions of NH7 (New Delhi and Pune) have given the crowd some blissfully brilliant music. Bangalore is no less. Featuring folk-fusion band The Raghu Dixit project, the talented Susheela Raman, the ever flamboyant Indian Ocean and many more, this stage is guaranteed to keep all sorts of audiences happy.

Eristoff's Wolves Den

 

This is truly a wolves den. With artists like the beat crushing Foreign Beggars, Indian electronica super stars Shaa'ir + Func, the brilliant Bay beat collective, the mind-numbing B.R.E.E.D and many more this stage will make audiences go crazy. Literally.

The Other Stage

 

If good old singer-songwriters are the kind of people you enjoy listening to, then do not give this stage a miss. The breezy Gowri, the musically sound Nigel Rajaratnam, the calming music of Vedanth Bharadwaj and other artists will definitely put your soul at ease.

The Dub Station

 

If dance is your drug, then this is the perfect place to be. Dubstep genius Dub Sharma, Reggae kings Reggae Rajahs, the ever crazy Rudy Roots, the mad Ziggi Recado, and the amazing Su-real are definitely going to blow your mind away.

The Fully Fantastic Stage

 

If you like having a ball and being totally fantastic, this stage will be like home to you. Sid Coutto's Tough on Tobacco, ex-Medusa now Sky Rabbit, the heart-thumping Galeej Gurus, the nice and catchy Bicycle days, Alternative rock band Blek, Rock act Skrat and Indie Rock boys The Shakey Rays will make sure that this stage lives up to its name.

Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune will see a completely new set of musicians and bands as well as exclusive sets designed especially for the festival, as none of the bands that have played there in the past two years will be performing in the same avatar.

Karnivool

Progressive rock giants Karnivool will headline the Bacardi Black Rock Arena at the festival this year. The Australian band who count India as one of their most memorable concert experiences will return to the country in November this year.

Seun Kuti and Egypt 80

The youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti leads his late father's magnificent band Egypt 80. Seun and Egypt 80's extraordinary power, scorching rhythms and kinetic funk energy has earned the band worldwide acclaim as one of today's most incendiary live acts. The band's first performance at The Dewarists Stage promises to be nothing short of magical.

 

Bacardi Black Rock Arena

 

The Bacardi Black Rock Arena features the best rock and metal acts in the country and abroad. From fist-raising anthems to frenzied moshpits, the Bacardi Black Rock Arena is where the action is. This year, in addition to international headliners Karnivool, the stage features iconic rockers Indus Creed (Mumbai), alternative rock act Them Clones (Delhi), thrash metal act Devoid (Mumbai), metal act Eccentric Pendulum (Bangalore), old school thrash metal Kryptos (Bangalore), metal act Inner Sanctum (Bangalore), much hyped new progressive metal act Pangea (Mumbai) and progressive fusion rock act Paradigm Shift (Mumbai).

The Dewarists Stage

 

The blissful Dewarists Stage will offer the best of world, folk and eclectic music created by inspirational artists who are part of The Dewarists movement. In addition to Afrobeat greats Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 (Nigeria), The Dewarists Stage also features fusion rock giants Kailasa (Mumbai), path-breaking Bangalore rockers Thermal and a Quarter (Bangalore), Carnatic rock act Agam (Bangalore) and folk-fusion act La Pongal (Chennai).

The Eristoff Wolves Den

 

The Eristoff Wolves Den features high-energy performances with live electronica and dance music. This year, the stage features progressive house, trance and techno DJ/producer Anish Sood (Goa), bass heavy Nucleya (New Delhi), audio-visual collective BLOT! Live (Delhi) and electro punk live act Driving Lolita (London) and DJ Nihal presents Bombay Bronx (London) as DJ Nihal returns to the festival bringing his club night Bombay Bronx featuring tabla beats, grime MCs, Bollywood dubstep, Bhangra beats and vocals with him.

The Fully Fantastic Stage

 

The Fully Fantastic Stage makes its debut at Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year. NH7.in curates the music, programming popular favourites that cannot be missed to quickly rising new bands that must be on your radar for the coming year. Indie darlings Adam and The Fish Eyed Poets (Chennai), gypsy jazz/cabaret act Peter Cat Recording Co. (New Delhi), garage punk act The Lightyears Explode (Mumbai), post punk act, who've recently made a much talked about comeback The Supersonics (Kolkata), Brooklyn hip-hop act Das Racist (New York), outspoken rap act Gandu Circus and rock act Spud In The Box (Mumbai).

The Other Stage

 

The Other Stage features Indian Ocean's guitarist Susmit Sen (New Delhi) who brings his new solo project to the festival, singer-songwriter Imli Imchen (Nagaland), pop-rock project The Koniac Net (Mumbai), singer-songwriter Vasudha Sharma (Mumbai), alternative folk artist Mou (Kolkata), singer-songwriter Gaurav Jagwani, pop-rock act Carlton and the Saints (Mumbai), alternative act Under The Influence (Mumbai), folk act The Dharohar Project, who collaborated with Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling on their tour in India, and singer-songwriter Vernon Noronha (Mumbai).

Dub Station

 

Dub Station brings dancehall vibes, reggae, dubstep and drum and bass to the festival each year. The lineup this year features reggae and dancehall act Delhi Sultanate (Delhi), Bay Beat Collective Raffael Kably's new ambient bass project Mode 7 (Mumbai), trap, tropical, bass, moombaton artist Cee (Kuala Lumpur), future garage sounds with Sandunes (Mumbai), dubstep and glitch-hop act Sound Avtar (Mumbai), reggae, dancehall and live vocals with Mr. Williamz (London), reggae and dancehall act Balkan HiFi (Croatia), Europe's no. 1 reggae , dancehall and dub soundsystem Mungos HiFi (Glasgow), Sweden's biggest reggae and dancehall singer Million Stylez (Sweden), live dub act Madu (Dublin), hip-hop and turntabilsm with India's best scratch DJ Kave (Chennai) and live dupstep act Symbiz Sound (Berlin).

Megadeth

Heavy metal pioneers and one of the 'Big Four', Megadeth headline the Bacardi Black Rock Arena in Delhi this year. Megadeth have been instrumental in shaping the face of metal over the last three decades, creating, pioneering and popularizing thrash metal across the world. The 10-time Grammy-nominated act has released 13 studio albums, selling over 38 million albums across the world. With a massive following, hundreds of loyal fans across the country are expected to descend upon Delhi for the performance.

Anoushka Shankar

The Grammy nominated musician brings her special blend of classical and contemporary magic to The Dewarists Stage this year. Anoushka creates stellar Indian classical music with the aid of her trusted sitar - evident through her hefty portfolio of work: From being the first Indian to perform at the Grammy Awards in 2006 to collaborating with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Lenny Kravitz and her father and teacher Pandit Ravi Shankar. Her latest album, Traveller (released on Deutsche Grammophon Records), won Anoushka the Songlines Music Award for Best Artist this year.

Shafqat Amanat Ali

performs on The Dewarists Stage this year. Born into the Patiala Gharna, Shafqat Amanat Ali has established himself as a noteworthy classical singer. He was the lead vocalist of Pakistani alternative-rock band Fuzon; and has sung for a number of Bollywood movies including 'Mitwa' in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

Kaiserdisco

Kaiserdisco bring their funky breed of house and techno to the Eristoff Wolves Den. Consisting of the Hamburg-based duo Frederic & Patrick; the two producers have been around since 2008 and have earned the reputation of being one of the most interesting acts on the global underground music scene. They've remixed international artists like Booka Shade, Kosheen and Extrawelt and released their debut EP, 'La Familia EP in December 2011.

The Bacardi Black Rock Arena features the best rock and metal acts in the country and abroad. From fist-raising anthems to frenzied mosh pits, the Bacardi Black Rock Arena is where the action is. Thrash metal giants Megadeth headline the Bacardi Rock Arena this year. The stage also features path-breaking iconic rockers Indus Creed (Mumbai), explosive electro-rock act Pentagram (Mumbai), alt-rock band The Circus (Delhi), rock pioneers Parikrama (Delhi), pop-rock act Zero (Mumbai) who reunite for one special gig in Delhi, Indian metal heavyweights Bhayanak Maut (Mumbai) and Scribe (Mumbai), comedy-rock project Vir Das' Alien Chutney (Mumbai), progressive death metal band Undying Inc (Delhi).

This year, the acts that bring you to the dance floor include house and techno giants Kaiserdisco (Hamburg, Germany), audio-visual brilliance with Hexstatic presents Holotronica (UK), DJ and renowned BBC radio presenter responsible for breaking Indian beats in the UK Bobby Friction (London), techno and house music with Jalebee Cartel co-founder Ashvin Mani Sharma (Delhi), quickly rising live electronica act Dualist Inquiry (Delhi), techno nu-disco DJ/producer Kohra (Delhi), audio-visual electronic collective BLOT! Live (Delhi), techno and progressive house with DJ Jayant Luthra's project Jitter (Delhi) and bass heavy electronic DJ/producer Nucleya (Delhi).
