Aladin Contest winners, Yashraj, Sagar, Mihir and Harsh, met Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandes at Sun n San, Juhu, while other winners await CDs and tickets. Here’s what the cast said about the movie to BookMyShow.
BMS: Is the movie actually based on the tale of Aladin?
Riteish: It’s Sujoy Ghosh’s take on the tale. He has deconstructed the story and worked with the characters. In the movie Aladin hates lamps and is only interested in Jasmine, and represents all those young men who don’t have the courage to tell a girl they like her.
BMS: How was it working on the movie?
Jacqueline: It’s my first film so everything was very new and exciting. Since the movie is based on an adventure fantasy it was a lot of fun. I’m lucky that we had such a brilliant director and Riteish is a great co-star to work with and the icing on the cake for me would have to be Amitji and Sanjay Dutt.
BMS: If you could ask a Genie for any one thing what would you wish for?
Riteish: (While Jacqueline is thinking about her answer) Weren’t you Miss Sri Lanka? Then it should be world peace!
Jacqueline: (laughs) Oh yes! But seriously, world peace would be good right now. We need it!
Riteish: It’s better than having the world in pieces! For me….I rub a lamp and Amitabh Bachchan comes out….I don’t think I need to ask for anything more.
