The relationship of ragas with diurnal time-cycles is an interesting feature, unique perhaps only to Hindustani music. It is believed that a raga is more effective, when performed at the designated time of day/night.


Presented by three vocalists over two sessions, this programme will showcase ragas appropriate to time zones (prahars) from sunset to sunrise.


The first session will feature Jayateerth Mevundi and Ashwini Bhide Deshpande presenting ragas associated with the first and second quarter of the night (after sunset).


The concluding session will include ragas befitting the third and fourth quarter of the night, rendered by Ramakant& Umakant Gundecha and Ashwini Bhide Deshpande respectively.
