Laurent Naouri (Baritone) & Maciej Pikulski (Piano) Western Music Recital Maciej Pikulski, is well known with Mumbai audiences not only for his accompanying skills with singers, but also for his mellifluous playing and gentle rendition of some of the great works for piano solo, some of which will feature in the solo recital of 1st Aug. The repertoire includes the early ‘Pathetique’ sonata by Beethoven as also his last sonata Op. 111. Hungarian virtuoso pianist and composer Liszt wrote this devilish Totentanz (Dance of Death) and transcribed many operatic tunes for piano. The themes from the operas ‘Rigoletto’ and ‘Il Trovatore’ will be heard here. Laurent Naouri is regarded as one of the well known baritones on the world stage today. His programme features the famous song cycle Dichterliebe (Poet’s Love) by Schumann. Songs by Schubert and rarely heard songs by Rachmaninov, Hahn and Duparc will also be sung. Laurent Naouri Laurent Naouri studied at the CNIPAL in Marseille and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.His professional career began in 1992 in the title role of Milhaud’s Christopher Columbus. He has since then been performing on the world’s major stages a broad reprtoire of over forty roles covering four hundred years of music from early baroque to contemporary music, with such leading conductors. Equally fond of chamber music and songs recitals, he has performed all the major Mahler song cycles, Schubert’s Winterreise, Schumann’s Dichterliebe , Liederkreis op 24 and 39, most of Poulenc’s songs cycles, Faure’s La Bonne Chanson, Brahms’ Vier Ernste Gesänge, Rachmaninov’s romances and many other works, mostly in company of pianist Maciej Pikulski. Maciej Pikulski Born in Cracow, Poland in 1969, French Nationality. Pianist soloist, chamber music player and accompanist of famous singers, Maciej Pikulski already appeared on the stage in 150 cities in 30 countries in 5 continents... He was awarded a piano, chamber music and vocal accompaniment diploma at the Paris Superior Conservatory of Music. Then he was admitted to the post graduate cycle and became prize-winner of the France Telecom Foundation. A disciple of Dominique Merlet, Maciej Pikulski continued his work as a soloist with Clive Britton, himself a former pupil of Claudio Arrau and has been invited to perform as soloist in Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Poland and Belgium.
