This two-hour programme attempts to revive the literary heritage of Gujarat. Designed to illustrate the five song-types of traditional Gujarati literature, viz. geet, garbo, lok geet, bhajan and ghazal, the presentation will draw from the iconic works of legendary poets such as Narsi Mehta, Dayaram, Premanand, Narmad, Meghani, Kalapi and others. The presentation will be based on recitation and musical rendition, theatre elements and garba, with the accompaniment of folk instruments. With their timeless appeal, these compositions have continued to enthrall generations of people over the last five hundred years.
