The concert will be held at Brahmakumari`sGlobal Peace Auditorium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 11th August 2012 at6.30 pm.
Unnikrishnan was initiated into Carnatic Music at age of 12 by VLSeshadri and subsequently underwent tutelage under SangeethaKalanidhi, Dr. S Ramanathan, Savithri Sathyamurthy and Calcutta K SKrishnamurthy. It was in 1994, that he received his first film offer and the very first songs, Ennavalae (Kaadalan) and Uyirum NeeyePavitra)bagged him the National Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He can be credited for bridging the gap between classical music and film music divide,which had been last achieved with great success by the legendary KJYesudas.
Unnikrishan mainly focuses on the carnatic era and the ragas that areought to create a higher definition in music. His experimental workmade him present a novel jazz concert in Trivandrum with the Eli YaminJazz Quartet and pianist Anil Srinivasan in the year 2008.
He has performed abroud at USA, UK, the Middle East,Far East, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He has receivedseveral prestigious awards including the Kalaimamani Award of the Govtof Tamil Nadu. Unnikrishnan is an A Grade artist of the All India Radioand a cricket enthusiast who`s played for the Tamil Nadu SeniorDivision League as a top order batsman and wicket keeper but sacrificedcricket for music. At present, he is a member of the Madras CricketClub and a life member of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
