All about Two Night: Blackstratblues + Summit Attempt
Main Artists: Blackstratblues, Summit Attempt
Early Years: Late 1990s After picking up the guitar at the age of 5, Warren Mendonsa went on to play the rhythm guitar in a few local bands with friends Siddharth Coutto (drums) & Girish `Bobby` Talwar (rhythm guitar, bass).
Besides his work in Zero, Warren recorded & released numerous instrumentals - Christmas In July, Spitleaf, & Evil, to name a few popular songs - which enjoyed some fame on online music forums like Gigpad, & Harmony Central. He was also involved in many online collaborations with musicians - most notably Adam Martin, Ed DeGenaro, & Zorran Mendonsa - which resulted in a few songs.
Summit Attempt is a band, project, an idea built around a single theme: Making original music with a healthy disregard for genre boundaries. The sound is meant to be a heady cocktail of the Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Electronica, Psychedelia and Latin with Rock as the strong, solid foundation. In about three years of existence, the band has released a self-produced album, Blue Bugyal, that has been reviewed by Rolling Stone (3.5 stars out of 5), written about in newspapers like The Bombay Times, The Telegraph, Pune Mirror, Hindustan Times, etc.
Summit Attempt is the brainchild of Sumit Bhattacharya. The founder guitar player for the cult 90s Kolkata band Easy Riders and Kolkata-based Latin-jazz band, The Orient Express, Sumit is a senior editor with Rediff.com. He has also played across the country with Mumbai-based Hindi rock band Prayag.
