With his trademark rap style and high octane music, Yo Yo Honey Singh revolutionized the music scene in Bollywood. The effervescent singer studied Arts at the Trinity School in the United Kingdom. His interest in producing mainstream Bhangra Pop music brought him back to India, where his compositions were initially rejected by many singers. Influenced by music legends such as James Brown, Ludacris, Bob Marley and Dr. Dre, Singh was determined to bring international flavors to Indian music. In 2006, he released his first single, Glassi, which became an instant hit with the masses and consequently made him very popular in Punjab. He also won the ETC Award (Best Sound).
His career gained momentum when he launched his album International Village (2011). One of its singles, Gabru topped the BBC and iTunes Asian music charts. Moreover, the music video of Brown Rang from the same album was termed as one of the most trending videos on YouTube. Singh made his playback debut in Bollywood with Gagan Sidhu from Shakal Pe Mat Ja (2011). Since then, he has worked on movies like Cocktail (2012), Son of Sardaar (2012), Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012), Khiladi 786 (2012), Race 2 (2013), Chennai Express (2013), Bhootnath Returns (2014) and Singham Returns (2014). Some of his popular songs include Lungi Dance, Blue Eyes, Sunny Sunny and Party All Night. Singh made his acting debut with the Punjabi movie Mirza (2012) and also appeared in a major role in The Xpose (2014).
