Verdict: Epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield
Based on Frank Millers latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster ''300,' 'this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield-on the sea-as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.
''300: Rise of an Empire'' pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
Hollywood publicist Bumble Ward was once interviewed about her desire for action king Michael Bay to show his softer side: what she called the "gay Bay". The 300 movies are the nearest thing to the "gay Bay" genre. This is a sort of parallelquel to Zack Snyder's original 300, which was about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC: this shows what happens around the same time when the Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) is battling the Persian naval forces, commanded by the super-sexy Artemisia. She is played with a good deal of frowning, pouting and strutting by Eva Green, a performer who is becoming so eccentric she may be the Sarah Miles of her generation. Snyder co-writes with Kurt Johnstad; Noam Murro directs and again it is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller, called Xerxes. (Oddly, the character of Xerxes, played here and in the previous movie by Rodrigo Santoro, doesn't appear in the action much.)
Review: While the first 300 movie dealt with Leonidas and the events at Thermopylae, here the focus shifts to the equally furious sea battle, fought on dark, choppy waters. King Xerxes (Santoro) and Queen Gorgo of Sparta (Headey) face off, with their respective commanders Artemisia (Green) and Themistocles (Stapleton) leading their navies. Although the previous movie is referenced in the gorgeous opening shot, the battle then rides on Themistocles' able shoulders.Artemisia is a determined commander, who doesn't think much of her adversaries, clad in sandals and capes. Indeed, the Persian navy splinters the Greek galleys, until they come up against Themistocles. Artemisia realises that she has an equal in strategy and cunning, against whom overwhelming force and superior numbers alone won't work.
My review for 300 Rise of an Empire 3D A awesome movie must and watch everyone... and the visual effects was unbeleivable...
My review for 300 Rise of an Empire 3D A compared to the original 300 storyline i found this to be extremely boring and a complete waste of time and money. The actors were equally weak in this movie and just could not bring out any interest in the weak script.
My review for 300 Rise of an Empire 3D A OMG AWESOME MOVIE BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST ONE
My review for 300 Rise of an Empire 3D A phaltu movei kaval talware hi talwaru h koi mat jana isko dekhne shor sharaba h kuch nahi h isse acchi to pahle wali thi
My review for 300 Rise of an Empire 3D A From 300 to this, its a bit let down as the cinematography is not epic as it was in 300. Also that comic let mystical look is missing in the movie and most of such movies become a disappointment in India because of unnecessary censoring.
