A funny family fare

By Sarita Tanwar(MID DAY)
Puneet and Munmun`s problems are real but despite their total condemnation of the guest, the director maintains the pathos in their characters. And that is what stops the film from venturing into the `dark comedy` territory. ATKJ is wholesome family entertainment -- the kind you don`t get to see these days. In the second half, the Ganesh Chaturthi sequence is a brilliant stroke that elevates the film. What make the film work are the three key actors. Ajay Devgn is at his candid best -- his scenes with the unwanted guest are hilarious and yet understated. He adds just the right amount of emotions in the intense scenes too. Konkona Sen complements him splendidly. Paresh Rawal as the atithi is so convincing that you almost want to get into the screen and toss him out of the nice couple`s house. Look out for him in the bhajan sequence done on the track of Beedi (from Omkara) -- it`s super funny.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge is a fun watch

By Nithya Ramani (Rediff)
Do you think houseguests may be a hindrance to your private space? Well, Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma`s characters in Athiti Tum Kab Jaoge certainly think so, when their structured lives are rudely altered by a houseguest who refuses to leave. Directed by Ashwini Dheer, Atithi tells a simple and unconventional story, and sees great performances from the lead cast, which includes Paresh Rawal . Devgn`s Punit is film scriptwriter. His wife Munmun (Sharma) is an interior designer, and they live a happy life with son Ayush. Soon, Paresh Rawal`s Lambodarchacha enters the film, and their home, and makes himself very comfortable.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?

By Nikhat Kazmi(TOI)
Puneet and Munmun, an archetypal nuclear family, find their ordered life being shaken apart when they have a visitor, Chachaji, who refuses to leave their house, despite an extended stay. Will they miss him when he goes?

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?

By Mayank Shekhar(Hindustan Times)
Devgn plays one such unfortunate host, and a screenwriter by profession. He has a wife (Sen Sharma), a kid, and understandably a tiny place in a suburb called Goregaon (not very different fom Delhi's Gurgaon). The guest, Lamobodar Chachaji (Rawal), is a long lost uncle, inexplicably related to them -- no one in the family seems to know how. The premise is still somewhat valid. It could corner a fair amount of comedy. If the belaboured and sporadic humour thereafter isn't dull enough, they stuff in so many third-rate songs, you feel a bit of a troubled host yourself. You could rush out of the theatre as the family on this screen does, from their own home, while Lambodar Chacha (like this over-the-top flick) refuses to budge.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?

By Rachit Gupta(Film Fare)
Based on an article by renowned Hindi literature legend Sharad Joshi, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? is about the modern man's inability to adhere to the atithi devo bhava (guests are God) adage. Puneet (Ajay Devgn), Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma) and their son are the quintessential urban Indian family. They have all the happiness in the world with the absence of guests. Lambodar Bajpai (Paresh Rawal) lands up on their doorstep and after the initial reverence he soon turns into a big pain in the neck.
