Verdict: The adorable ghost returns...
Bhoothnath Returns takes Bhoothnath's story forward. As he returns to the Bhoot World, he is greeted with taunts and condemnation from other ghosts for bringing disrepute to the ghost-community for getting bullied by a kid on Earth. Post the humiliation, Bhoothnath decides to redeem himself and come back to scare a bunch of kids.
Bhoothnath's search for kids brings him to Akhrot, a slum kid who is also the only person who can see him. Together they agree to help each other and their friendship sees them get involved in a cause that is bigger than they had ever imagined. To move ahead they will need to take on one of the country's most powerful and corrupt politician Bhau. The Lok Sabha elections are nearing and Bhau's victory is a mere formality, or is it?
In a world, where a common man is afraid of politics, will a common man's ghost overcome his fear to stand up for what is right and fight against injustice?
Bhoothnath Returns is an entertaining tale of good against evil, weak against powerful, past against future.
Kailash Nath a.k.a. Bhoothnath (Amitabh Bachchan) is back in town with Bhoothnath Returns. After spending some quality time with Banku (Aman Siddiqui) and all wishes fulfilled, Bhoothnath returns to bhooth world. But he is unaware what the management in bhooth world has in store for him. He is sent back to earth with the intention ...
Bhoothnath is one depressed ghost. Deeply humiliated at not having been successful at the one thing all ghosts manage so effortlessly scaring children he asks permission to descend from on high, back to earth, and go boo. Upon which he manages (once again, just like in the prequel Bhoothnath) to find the one little tyke who can see him, and off they go to find a fresh set of bhootiya adventures.
The problem with this well-intentioned social drama is that it starts out as a children's film but decides to grow up mid-way and discard its predecessor's endearing traits to take a sanctimonious stand in a regrettably tedious manner.
Bhoothnath, which earlier showed that the ghosts are friendly and not enemy or fearsome, takes a political turn this time, which though looks unreal but just convinces.Bhoothnath Returns is the return of the 60-year old ghost on earth who is discomforted in the dead world for his inability to scare a little kid six years back. Therefore, he is up for a task, which is even more disgusting for Bhoothnath. He needs to scare about a dozen of kids on earth but in turn he turns into a comic character.
Off the screen, the general elections are in full swing. So, on it, silly season, willy-nilly, is well and truly underway. In early March, we were witness to a bitter battle of attrition between a feisty vigilante and a creepy lady politician in a rural outpost in Gulaab Gang.A couple of weeks back, we travelled to Youngistaan, where a suave young man found himself stepping into the shoes of the Prime Minister of India. And now, Bhoothnath Returns to cleanse the nation by taking on the might of a ruthless and self-serving politico in his Mumbai lair.
Its release shrewdly timed just as the nation goes to polls, Bhoothnath Returns casts a satirical eye on the messy business of Indian politics and the workings of election campaigns. The twist, of course, is that its a 60-something-year-old invisible ghost whos seeking votes.Having humiliated himself in the ghost community for failing to scare a little boy the last time around (in the 2008 film), our hapless hero Bhoothnath (Amitabh Bachchan) is dispatched once again to the land of the living to redeem himself. But of course he ends up befriending another precocious tyke, Akhrot (Parth Bhalerao). When the pair learns about the misdeeds of corrupt local politico Bhau (Boman Irani), Bhootnath agrees to fight him in the local elections, determined to improve the conditions of his impoverished constituency.
