Canadian pianist Paul Stewart will start off the festival with a solo piano recital featuring a selection of Preludes from the Baroque period through to Impressionism. The programme will feature works by Bach, Debussy, Haydn, Medtner and Poulenc.
Friday July 13, 2012 Con Brio 2012 Of Eastern Lands and Peoples
John Cage, one of the most influential American composers, was strongly influenced by ideologies of the East and to celebrate his birth centenary, this concert will feature music inspired by the East: Central & North Asia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and, of course, India. The program consists of Goan Folk Songs, Vanraj Bhatia`s ``Kingurivali``, Mussorgsky`s ``Pictures at an Exhibition`` among others. Saturday July 14, 2012 Con Brio 2012 Competition Semifinal
The semifinal round of the competition will feature pianists chosen from all over India by Karl Lutchmayer. In the month of June, Karl judged the Con Brio Selection Round where he traveled to several Indian cities auditioning the young Indian pianists and presenting his solo recital Ã¢â‚¬Å“In the Shadow of BeethovenÃ¢â‚¬Â.
Sunday July 15, 2012 Con Brio 2012 Barocco con Bri The last concert of the festival will encompass the final round of the Con Brio 2012 Competition and the prize distribution. Other than the competition, this primarily Baroque concert will feature Handel`s Italian Cantatas and scenes from Purcell`s Dido and Aeneas. However, the highlight of Con Brio 2012 will be the finale: a performance of Bach`s Concerto for 4 keyboards for the first time in Mumbai. Do not miss this opportunity to see four pianists on four pianos!
