GHALIB IN NEW DELHI deals with Mirza Ghalibs re-birth in 21st century New Delhi, highlighting his trials, travails and tribulations from his birth at ISBT to staying in a servant quarter at Patpad Ganj with a Bihari young man (the land lady being a Punjabi) to becoming a Page-3 celebrity.
Mirza Ghalib, the great erstwhile Urdu poet decides to visit his beloved Delhi, to witness his posthumous fame. The plot revolves around Ghalib braving an omnipotent identity crisis. This forces him to stay with a Bihari boy, Jai Hind in the servant quarter of Mrs. Chaddha, who recognises his worth only through the voice of Jagjit Singh and screen portrayal of Naseeruddin Shah. In desperate need of recognition, his attempts to popularize himself through a press conference and an advertising agency that turn out to be a series of misadventures.
