Tumhari Amrita a poignant love story told through letters spanning a period of 35 years. A lyrical journey in time and space, chronicles the lives of two very different people, who cannot live with or without each other. According to Feroz Abbas Khan, ``In 1993, the play had a show at six in the evening and Shabana Azmi, who plays the role of Amrita, was in jail on charges of inciting people in the `92 - `93 riots. She refused to ask for bail since the allegations were baseless. Shaukat Azmi apologised to the crowd and assured a refund but the audience chose to wait for Shabana. She was somehow released, reached the venue at eight and was on stage at seven minutes past eight. That`s the kind of support Tumhari Amrita enjoyed and 20 years down the line, it continues to generate as much excitement. After celebrating 20 years of Tumhari Amrita in Mumbai and Delhi, Shabana Azmi and Farooq Shaikh will now be coming to Bangalore.
