The play attempts to relate the life and message of Mahatma Jotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule to our times. It deals with women`s issues, education for the extremely underprivileged, struggle against casteism, the meaning of religion,Brahmanismv/s Brahmans, the association of the Satyashodhak movement (the movement established by Jotiba)with farmers, and the onset of the organized struggle of the working class. The stage performance uses a folk theatre form similar to the one employed by the Satyashodhak Samaj during its time. It unravels the message and life of Jotiba through song, dance and drama.
