About DNA

DNA has been a trendsetter in Mumbai since its launch in the year 2005. In just nine years, DNA is currently one of the fastest growing English daily in India.

About DNA ICAN

DNA has always been at the forefront in terms of taking up relevant causes for the city & its readers ,at various points of time, never hesitated to raise a relevant issue and take action.

While DNA has stood up for various causes, a special focus has been devoted to a slew of initiatives towards women empowerment and largely the celebration of women power.

DNA ICan is a platform conceived to celebrate the spirit of achievement amongst women.
The DNA ICan Women`s Half Marathon is India`s only Women`s Half Marathon and is in its third year. We invite all the Women ICanner`s to break free and step into this world without boundaries.

Through the platform of the Women's half marathon, DNA aims to highlight the following key cause:

Girl Child Education: With a bias towards the female gender, education is often the first casualty and it becomes a lifelong handicap. What's worse, this works in a vicious cycle with poor education leading to poor earnings and the cycle continues.

Both the causes are rife in urban areas, even in Mumbai and some real work is being done by the NGOs. We continue to believe that DNA ICan Women's Half Marathon would provide an ideal platform for women to make a difference by supporting a cause and celebrate the spirit of achievement.

How can you be involved?

  • Register for the marathon, associate yourself with a cause and run for it. With your participation, duly amplified through multiple media, the message about the causes shall reach far and wide. The registrations are open from 21st Feb 2014 onwards
  • 50% of the registration proceeds are donated to the cause directly, with the associated NGOs getting the money raised. This NGO has been handpicked by the DNA team, basis the work done by them.
  • The NGO working towards this causes shall be interacting with each of the registered runners on the half marathon day. This will provide first-hand information of how one can support the cause not just with money but also with time, effort and other resources.

How many ways can you run?

  • Half Marathon - 21kms - starts at 5:30 AM.
  • Spirit Run - 10 km - starts at 7:45 AM.
  • Fun Run - 5kms - starts at 8:15 AM.

Besides runners, celebrities & achievers

DNA shall also showcase the key women achievers who have battled difficulties in real life and came up triumphant - that's demonstration of the ICAN Spirit.

DNA shall also provide a platform for celebrities who wish to associate with the causes relevant to women readers and actively work towards raising awareness about them.
