Archaeological Site Museum, Nalanda:
The Archaeological Site Museum in Nalanda was established in the year 1917 and is considered one of the most prestigious site museums of the country. The Archaeological Site Museum at Nalanda is home to the antiquities excavated in the site of the oldest education centre.
Main attractions of the Archaeological Site Museum, Nalanda:
Much like the Archaeological Site Museum at Vikramshila, the Nalanda museum also constitutes of four galleries which have been categorised to house altogether 350 artifacts and antiquities. Among the main attractions in the main hall of the museum are master pieces of stone and two huge earthen storage jars. In addition to this, there is a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara with twelve hands, about two meters image of Samantabhadra, Nagaraj with seven serpent hood canopy, a colossal image of Buddha seated in dharmachakra mudra, a tantric deity, Trailokyavijya trampling Shiva and Gauri, and Buddha seated in Bhumisparsa mudra.
Apart from the main attractions the other artifacts constitute of sealings, terracottas, brick-tiles, stucco objects, ivory and bone objects and iron instruments and implements. The important events of Buddha’s life as well as two miniature temples have also been exhibited in the museum.

The timings of the Archaeological Site Museum at Nalanda are from 9 am to 5 pm and the entry fee charged from visitors is INR 5.
