Safdarjung Tomb:
Safdarjung Tomb is one of the greatest and well-known monuments in New Delhi. It is a garden tomb constituting mainly marble and sandstone and was built in late 18th century. Nawab Shuja Ud Daula, Safdarjung`s son built this tomb in the memory of his father. Safdarjung holds a significant place in India`s history as he was appointed the Wazir ul-Hindustan (Prime Minister of India) during the reign of Ahmad Shah Bahadur. Safdarjung tomb remains the last monumental garden tomb which depicts the Mughal architectural style.
Safdarjung tomb information:
The Safdarjung tomb is constructed on an elevated platform and is surrounded by a huge square garden that measures 920 feet on each side. The compound surrounded by a wall also has a courtyard and a three-domed mosque.

The main attraction of the Safdarjung tomb is that it is built with red and yellow sandstone. There are intricate designs made on the two-storied main entry gate of the mausoleum, which provides a beautiful view of the mausoleum. In addition, it also houses a library and several rooms. At each corner of the main tomb stand polygonal towers, and the rubble walls inside the tomb adorn a number of octagonal shaped towers. The actual graves of Safdarjung as well as his wife Amat Jahan Begum, reside in the underground chamber of the tomb.
The timings to enter the Safdarjung tomb are from 6am to 6pm.

Entry fee of Safdarjung tomb:
The Safdarjung tomb is located at the junction of Safdarjung Road and Aurobindo Marg (Road) in New Delhi in close proximity to Safdarjung Airport. The entry fees for the Safdarjung tomb is INR 15 for Indian and for foreigners is INR 200, with free entry for children up to 15 years of age. While tourists can carry a still camera at no extra charge, an INR 25 charge is levied for video cameras.
