Apart from this, many excavations have been carried out in the small village of Sirpur and discoveries include a statue of Buddha from 6th Century AD. In addition, Sirpur has a number of historical locations that were discovered during excavations. One of them is Teevardeo Buddhist Monastery which has a shrine containing a stone image of Buddha flanked by standing Padampani on either side. Other excavations include Balesvara Mahadeva Temple Complex, Rama Temple Complex, Rajmahal Complex, the Swastik Bihar which houses a 2.5 meter high image of Buddha in the Bhumi-Sparsha-Mudra and the Surang Tila which has a 4.65 meter high pedestal, and is made entirely with blocks of white stones.
