The Palace in the Fort: Bhopal
A site of commemoration of glorious history of Bhopal is the Rani Kamlapati Palace, situated at the centre of Kamla park. Queen Kamlapati was the wide of the warlord of Gond Tribe, who have ruled over the city of Bhopal at the time. A divide between the upper and lower lake, Kamlapati Palace displays a secular 18th century architecture, built of Lakhauri bricks, arching across the pillars.
Kamlapati Palace History
It is said that in 1723, queen Kamlapati drowned herself in the lake. Later, with the queen’s demise, Sadar Dost took over reign and built Fatehgarh Fort, which stands in ruins by the west of Kamlapati Palace.
