Known as Urumi: The Warriors Who Wanted to Kill Vasco Da Gama is a 2011 historical fantasy film. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was also one of the producers of the film, as Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar, Prabhu Deva as Vavvali, Robin Pratt as Vasco da Gama, Alexx ONell as Estevao da Gama, Genelia D`Souza as Princess Aysha of Cannanore. Amol Gupte, Jagathy Sreekumar, Nithya Menon, Vidya Balan are some of the other actors while featuring Arya and Tabu in guest roles. The film is set in the backdrop of the warrior clans of northern Kerala on the Malabar Coast, India in the sixteenth century. The story follows the life of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar, the son of the Kottuval (General) of Chirakkal.

Kottuval of Chirakkal is killed on board the ship Miri by Vasco da Gama during the infamous massacre of the pilgrim ship in 1502. Almost twenty years after this incident, Vasco da Gama again arrives in India as the Viceroy and Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar, seeks revenge for his fathers murder and plans an uprising against the Portuguese.The film is spread between Gama`s second and third to India. Urumi was dubbed and released in Telugu as ``Urumi`` and English as ``Urumi: The Warriors Who Wanted to Kill Vasco Da Gama``. The film is awaiting release in Tamil as ``Urumi: Padhinaintham Nootrandu Uraivaal``, which has dialogues written by S. Sasikumaran.
