A model and a film actress, Akshara Gowda is known for her works in Tamil and Hindi films. Besides acting, Akshara is also a popular face in the modeling world; she has appeared in commercials for several leading brands. The actress made her acting debut with a Tamil film Uyarthiru 420 in 2011 and two years later made her Bollywood debut with Rangrezz.

Early Life
Born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Akshara is the daughter of JPS Gowda, a businessman, and Gowri Gowda. The actress has a younger sister named Harshita who was born in 1999. Akshara attended New Cambridge High School, Bengaluru and later went to Vijaya Junior College where she completed her pre-university studies. She completed her graduation in engineering from SKIT College. While in high school, Akshara took a keen interest in sports and she represented her school team in the state level throwball as well as played table tennis. Besides, sports she also regularly participated in modeling shows.

Movie Career
Akshara Gowda started her acting career in 2011 with a role in the Tamil film Uyarthiru 420, which was written and directed by S. Premnath. The film co-starring Snehan, Meghana Raj, and Vaseegaran was based on the life of an ordinary man who resorts to corrupt ways to become rich. Upon release in theaters in August 2011, the film received mixed critical reviews, with Nowrunning stating, "This tale of deception cons you into believing." Following her debut film, in the same year, Akshara played the role of Palak Grewal in the Hindi festival film, Chitkabrey - The Shades of Grey.

After a successful start to her career, the actress appeared in a single movie in 2012; she made a special appearance in the super hit Tamil film, Thuppakki starring Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyan Sivakumar, Vidyut Jamwal, Jayaram, Deepthi Nambiar and Manobala. The following year, Akshara made her debut in a Bollywood film, Rangrezz, which was directed by Priyadarshan. Although there was not much buzz around the film, upon release it received mostly positive reviews. Ankur Phatak, a film critic from Rediff.com stated, "Rangrezz works despite being saddled with a rather cliched plot." Later in the year, the actress starred alongside Ajit Kumar, Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee Pannu in the Tamil film Arrambam directed by Vishnuvardhan. The film got mostly positive reviews and emerged to be a box office hit.

In 2014, director Yuvaraj Bose cast Akshara for a special appearance in his action film Irumbu Kuthirai, which had Atharvaa, Priya Anand and Johnny Tri Nguyen in the leading roles. With no releases to her name in 2015 and 2016, her 2017 films include Bogan directed by Lakshman and Maayavan directed by C.V. Kumar. Her 2019 release includes Panchatantra.
