An alumna of Mar Ivanious College, Thiruvananthapuram where she studied Mass Communication, Anarkali Marikar was still in college when she got an offer to feature in Anandam (2016) through the cinematographer of the film, Anend C. Chandran, who is a friend of her sister. Anarkali accepted the offer and thus started her journey in the film industry.

A year before her maiden film appearance, Anarkali was offered to play the leading role by Lal Jose is his directorial venture, Nee - Na. However, she declined to the role because she was in her 12th grade and she wanted to concentrate on her studies. Following her debut, Anarkali subsequently starred in Vimaanam (2017), a romantic comedy film written and directed by Pradeep M. Nair. His 2019 release includes Uyare, directed by Manu Ashokan.
