Recipient of the prestigious Kalaimamani Award given by the Government of Tamil Nadu for excellence in cinema, Chinni Jayanth is a Tamil comedian, actor, director, producer and mimicry artist, widely recognized in the movie as well as television industry. His most appreciated supporting roles were seen in movies like Kizhakku Vasal, Kannedhirey Thondrinal, and Idhayam. His portrayal of a mentally challenged person in the 1994 film Chinna Pulla opposite Revathi, gained him huge critical and audience applause. He has directed the movies Unakkaga Mattum, Kaanal Neer and Neeye Yen Kaadhali. Having played several pivotal, character and supporting roles in Tamil movies, Jayanth's most notable works include Dumm Dumm Dumm, Kadhalar Dhinam, Pondatti Sonna Kettukanum, Muthal Vasantham, Ooty, Nadigan, Idhaya Thamarai, Vetri Vizha, Enga Thambi, Sivaji, and Thodari. He has hosted many popular shows like Sagalai Vs Ragalai, Asathapovathu Yaaru and Kalakka Povathu Yaar. His 2017 venture includes the action drama Muthuramalingam starring Gautham Karthik, and also director M. Anbazhagan's Rubaai starring Chandran and Anandhi in lead roles.
