An Indian screenwriter Inder Raj Anand was the brains behind penning some of the most popular films in the 50s and 60s in the Hindi film industry. Associated with films mostly starring Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand, he made his debut with the film Phool Aur Kaante (1948), and moved on to Aag(1948), Aah (1953), Anari (1959) and Sangam (1963).

Over the years, Inder Raj Anand was associated with box office and critical successes in cinema like Anari (1959), Challia (1960), Sangam (1964), Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani (1970), Haathi Mere Saathi (1971), Nagin (1976), and Mard (1985) among innumerable other films. His last film as writer was Shahenshah (1988), which starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Shahenshah released in 1988, after Inder Raj Anand tragically passed away in 1987, and became one of the biggest box-office successes.
