Comic book author and writer Lowell Cunningham created the iconic comic book series The Men in Black in 1990, which eventually spawned the billion dollar film franchise. Besides this, Cunningham has also written the screenplay for a handful of short films and created the comic book superhero Jack Ooze.

The first three movie adaptations of MIB comics featured Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in the lead roles; while the latest, titled Men in Black: International (2019), had Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Liam Neeson in pivotal roles.
