Associated with Malayalam cinema since 1981, Raveendran is a music composer who was extremely popular in the industry for his distinctive style of music. Starting his musical journey in 1969 as a playback singer in the film Velliyazhcha, he made his debut as a composer in the year 1979 with the film Choola.

His breakthrough came with Thenum Vayambum (1981) when he was recognised as a composer in the industry and went on to churn out many hit songs. His other credits include songs from the films Chiriyo Chiri (1982), Aattakalasam (1983), Aaraam Thampuran (1997), Mizhi Randilum (2003), Njaan Salperu Raman Kutty (2004), Maratha Nadu (2004), and Greetings (2004), among several others. Raveendran left for his heavenly abode on 3 March 2005 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
