A veteran in the television industry, Rita Bhaduri was famous for her role in the television serial KumKum. Rita, even though not of a Gujarati descent, is revered in the Gujarati film industry for her work in dramas and movies. In Bollywood, she made her debut with Teri Talash Mein in 1968. In 1974, she appeared in a Malayalam feature titled "Kanyakumari", this was the debut movie for Kamal Haasan. Since then she has been a part of the Tinseltown and worked in numerous supporting roles. Among others, she was part of movies like Ghar Ho Toh Aisa, Beta, Raja, Kevi Rite Jaish in 2012 was the last time she was seen on the big screen.

On television also she portrayed her talent of acting as she picked up varied roles. She was seen in a handful of serials like Kichdi, Choti Bahu, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Krishnaben Khakhrawal, Ek Mahal Sapno Ka including others. This popular television artist played the last role of a grandmother in the serial Nimki Mukhiya. Entertaining people until her last days, Rita passed away at the age of 62 due to cardiac arrest while she was being treated for her liver ailment.
