Sarika Thakur is an Indian actress of half-Marathi and half-Rajput descent. She appeared in many films as a child artist and later starred in films like Geet Gata Chal, Karishma, Razia Sultan, and Satte Pe Satta. In the year 2000, she won the National Film Award for Best Costume Design for the film Hey Ram. Her performance in Parzania where she played the role of a Zoroastrian woman who loses her child during the 2002 riots in India, fetched her the National Film Award for Best Actress. She married actor Kamal Hassan, but the couple separated after being together for almost 20 years. They have two daughters Shruti Hassan and Akshara Hassan.
