BIOGRAPHY

Thangar Bachan is an award-winning Indian cinematographer, director, actor, and novelist, who has been active in the film industry for almost three decades. He started his career as a cinematographer with the 1990 film Malai Charal, and then went on to be a part of several films like Mogamul (1993), Vaazhga Jananayagam (1995), Kaadhale Nimmadhi (1998), Kallazhagar (1999), Kannukku Kannaga (2000), Pandavar Bhoomi (2001) and Periyar (2007), to name the popular ones. He made his debut as a director in 2002 with the critically acclaimed romantic drama Azhagi, starring Parthiban, Nandita Das and Devayani in the lead roles. He again cast Parthiban in his 2004 drama Thendral, which received positive reviews. One of his other popular films was Chidambarathil Oru Appasamy in 2005, which performed well at the box office. Thangar`s next was Pallikoodam, starring Narain, Sneha, Sriya Reddy, and Seeman, which won him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Director. He followed this up with drama films like Onbadhu Roobai Nottu, which revolves around the life of a simple villager, and the Shanthnu Bhagyaraj - Iniya starrer Ammavin Kaipesi. His 2017 directorial venture includes the romantic movie Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal, starring Prabhu Deva and Bhumika Chawla in the lead roles. He is also the cinematographer of the film.
