After a brief stint with Balaji Motion Pictures, Vikram Malhotra joined Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in 2011 as the COO of the company. During his two-year-long association with the company, Vikram produced commercially and critically successful movies such as Tanu Weds Manu, OMG: Oh My God!, Gangs of Wasseypur, Special 26, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Queen. He then quit the company to establish his entrepreneurial career and founded Abundantia Entertainment, a content curation studio. Under the banner, he produced two back-to-back hits in the form of Baby (2015) and Airlift (2016), both of which starred Akshay Kumar in the lead. The following year, in 2017, Malhotra produced the Sonakshi Sinha-starrer comedy drama Noor, which also featured Kanan Gill and Shibani Dandekar in other roles. His other projects include Chef, which is the official remake of Jon Favreau's Hollywood movie of the same title, and stars Saif Ali Khan and Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead, and the Akshay Kumar and Bhumika Pednekar-starrer Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, which explores the poor state of sanitation in various parts of India. His 2018 release includes Mitron.
