6 Comedy Gigs For Which You Can Actually Step Out

Aren’t stand-up gigs simply the best? Not only do you get to laugh all the way to tomorrow, but you also get to do it at somebody else’s expense (unless you’re in the front row and get picked on). With their witty, relevant and spot-on commentary about what’s happening in the world, comedians have a way of translating what you’re thinking and saying it better. And if you’ve been tired of being reduced to getting your dose of LOLs through videos and online shows, we’ve got some good news for you. Comedians are now taking their shenanigans offline.

India’s (self-professed) highest selling comedian, actor and musician, Vir Das (pictured above) has a repertoire most entertainers would give an arm and leg for. He’s done stand-up, Bollywood, headlined Netflix specials, starred in American shows and is part of the comedy rock band, Alien Chutney. Known for his snappy zingers and relatable musings, Das’ show is the perfect way to reclaim a little normalcy and much-needed laughs.

Dongri to Nowhere by Munawar Faruqi

Born in Gujarat and thriving in Mumbai, Munawar Faruqi is most famous for his hilarious take on Indian politics, PUBG and Arnab Goswami. His claim to fame is being listed as the top comedian in an imaginary article by Scoopwhoop and Buzzfeed on Top 10 Comedians. His new show, inspired by Hussain Zaidi’s book, has nothing to do with Dubai but is full of his trademark jokes on politics, Bollywood and social media.
When: Friday, November 27 to Sunday, January 31.
Where: Multiple venues in Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Sahil Shah shares co-founder title with Verma for East India Comedy, is a self-professed pun master and considers being cast as an extra in the Hrithik Roshan movie Guzaarish the highlight of his career. Born and brought up in Libya, Angad Singh Sanyal blames his upbringing for his state of perpetual confusion. Despite being one of the million Indians possessing an MBA in marketing, he strives to remain sane by turning everything into a joke. Plus, his innate sarcasm helps.
