Movies have time and again shown us untold stories that we need to know. These movies change us a bit, inspire us, and sometimes make us feel proud. One such movie in the Bollywood line-up is URI – The Surgical Strike. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the movie stars the very talented Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. URI is based on the Indian Army‘s surgical strikes on Pakistan as a retaliation for the URI attack of 2016.
Two years ago, an attack at the URI army base camp led to a death of 19 Indian army men. The incident was reported to be “the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades”. 11 days after the attack, the Indian Army retaliated with a surgical strike on Pakistan. This movie focusses on the latter part, the 11 days between the first strike and the strike back.
Recently, the trailer of the movie was released and it truly had patriotism roaring with every view. It was received very well. The trailer showed Vicky Kaushal leading the troop of men who were to execute the strike. Vicky has impressed us with his performances this year and it is quite evident that he has worked hard for this role as well. As per the reports, he trained for five hours every day for five months and this included extreme military training to enhance strength and stamina, gun training, slithering, and technical arms training. Kaushal, along with the supporting cast trained at Navy Nagar, Mumbai. He also gained weight or we can say “muscles” for the role. This role certainly adds another feather to his success till date and the versatility and range of characters that he has played.
While the movie has gained anticipation with time, the timeline of the movie is very thought through. It was announced on the first anniversary of the URI incident in September 2017 and the teaser was released on the second anniversary – 27th of September 2018 to be precise. The news of the trailer coming soon was shared one day after the 10th anniversary of 26/11 this year. And it doesn’t end here! The crew of the movie also paid tribute to the martyrs of 26/11 through a radio message. It played on 330 radio stations simultaneously at 10:12 AM on the 26th of November.
The intelligent approach and the talented cast sure make this one a must-watch. Written and directed by debutant Aditya Dhar, URI: The Surgical Strike is all set to release on the 11th of January 2019. Until the movie release, do visit this space to know more updates on the movie and our review.
