Okka Kshanam: Film Review – Love Triumphs Over Destiny

Verdict: Vi Anand strikes back again with a novel concept.

Allu Sirish’s last movie Srirasthu Shubamasthu remained as the highest grosser till date for him while Vi Anand’s directorial Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada emerged as the highest grosser in his career. Now, both have teamed up to come up with a romantic thriller Okka Kshanam. Produced by Chakri Chigurapati under the banner Lakshmi Narasimha Entertainments, the music and background score has been rendered by Mani Sharma while cinematography has been handled by Sam K Naidu. Surbhi is paired opposite Allu Sirish for the first time while Srinivas Avasarala and Seerat Kapoor are seen in important roles. Edited by Chota K Prasad, let’s see if Okka Kshanam continues the success streak for the hero and the director.

What’s Okka Kshanam About:

Jeeva (Allu Sirish) and Jyotsna (Surbhi) fall in love at first sight. Their love journey is smooth until they come across Srinivas (Avasarala Srinivas) and Swathi (Seerat Kapoor) who are a married couple and stay opposite Jyotsna’s flat. In what can be termed as a mysterious case of “parallel life” scenario, the incidents that happen with Srinivas and Swathi replicate in the lives of Jeeva and Jyotsna. Hell breaks loose when Swathi is murdered and Srinivas is arrested. Will Jyotsna also get murdered in the hands of Jeeva? Did Srinivas really kill Swathi? To know all these and much more, watch this romantic crime thriller based on the unique concept of parallel life.

What Works:

The novel concept and the script is the heart and soul of Okka Kshanam. Vi Anand’s writing and direction is praiseworthy and will keep the audience glued to their seats from the start till the end. Mani Sharma’s music and background score play a vital role in keeping the pace going. The cinematography is splendid and every frame looks great and in sync with the narration. Editing is neat and crisp with no scope for any unwanted scenes just for the sake of it. Director’s story telling without any formulaic liberties is commendable. The production values are great. Surbhi and Seerat came up with a nice act as their characters have scope of emoting and they succeed in it. Srinivas Avasarla did justice to his role. The rest of the cast is apt in their roles. Dasari Arun Kumar surprises everyone in a short role of an antagonist. This is comeback movie after a very long time.

What Could Have Been Better:

The latter half of the movie could have been better when compared to the first half. While the director succeeds in setting the plot right in the first half, he missed out on maintaining the momentum when all the suspense is unlocked.

Why You Should Watch:

Watch this movie if you are a fan of novel scripts and suspense thrillers. Okka Kshanam can easily be watched with families and friends.
