Episode 4 Of ‘WandaVision’ Left Us With 3 Questions

WandaVision episode four answers some questions, but it raises even more about the nature of Westview and Scarlet Witch’s illusion. Here are some things we’re wondering after watching the latest episode.

Is Vision alive?

In WandaVision, Scarlet Witch constructs an imaginary idyllic sitcom suburb and hijinks ensue with her husband Vision (who died in the MCU movies) and wacky neighbours. As Scarlet Witch’s Westview illusion begins to unravel, the mystery of Vision’s resurrection deepens. In a scene from episode four, she sees the cyborg as a walking corpse with a hole in his head where Thanos removed the Mind Stone in Avengers: Infinity War. Whether this is part of the illusion or reality slowly sinking in is currently up for debate.

Why a sitcom?

It’s possible that Wanda watched American sitcoms on TV when she was young. She may have used them as a means to cope with the death of her parents. She could be using her memories of sitcom plots as fuel for her WandaVision world. The creation of this sitcom world may simply be a new coping mechanism in the aftermath of Vision’s death or something more sinister at play.

Is ‘WandaVision’ setting up phase four?

WandaVision could serve as the set-up for the next generation of Marvel heroes. Scarlet Witch’s constructed reality is a suburb of New Jersey. Ms. Marvel, one of Marvels upcoming heroes is from New Jersey. This begs the question of whether WandaVision will have a role to play in the origin of Ms. Marvel.
