Fans can’t get enough of the buddy cop dynamic between Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson (Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie) on the The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The show takes us back to the best duos from the MCU’s 13-year run. Here are some of our favourite Marvel pairings and team-ups from the last decade.
Iron Man and War Machine
Military man James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and weapons manufacturer Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) were friends before they became the power-suited duo of Iron Man and War Machine. This pairing is vintage Marvel. It was the chemistry between them that had Marvel putting dynamic duos in their movies.
Rocket Raccoon and Groot
The interspecies friendship between Rocket and sentient tree Groot is heartwarming. The ordinarily gruff, wisecracking Raccoon treats Groot with care and compassion. How do you beat a friendship that literally saved the universe?
Wanda and Vision
While their chemistry wasn’t developed much in the movies, WandaVision, for all its grief and sadness, showed us how Wanda and Vision exemplified couple goals. The love story of sorceress Wanda Maximoff and cybernetic synthezoid Vision culminated in the tragedy of the series. However, throughout the show, we see what made them fall for each other. Vision would go to any lengths to protect Wanda and their family. Wanda treated the cyborg Vision like a human being, caring for and supporting him. The whole set-up for the show was Wanda’s attempt to give him another chance to live. To think this all started from a conversation about chicken stew in the Captain America: Civil War (2016).
Thor and Loki
As is typical of sibling duos, Thor and Loki have shared pranks and fall-outs. Yet they still support each other. Their dynamic has made for plenty of hilarious and heat-breaking moments. Thor and Loki may be the greatest pairing in the history of Marvel Studios. Watch Thor: Ragnarok to see the siblings at their best.
