‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Is Full Of Fun Easter Eggs

The galaxy-travelling bounty hunter and his adorable sidekick Baby Yoda are finally back for a second outing on Disney+ Hotstar’s The Mandalorian. The first of the new set of episodes is finally out; here’s our impression.

Mando meets the marshal

In the second season, Mando (Pedro Pascal) continues his quest to reunite the child with his kind. In episode one, he stops in a secluded town in Tatooine, where he meets a man who calls himself the marshal (Timothy Olyphant), who defends the town while impersonating and wearing the armour of a Mandalorian. Since outsiders wearing the armour goes against the creed of his people, he demands that the marshal hand it over to him. However, the marshal offers Mando an exchange. The marshal asks for his assistance in slaying a Krayt dragon, a massive burrowing beast terrorising both his people and the nearby community of sand people. The Mandalorian takes on the task of getting rid of the dragon, but uniting the townsfolk and the sand people against the monster proves to be another challenge.

It’s still great for newcomers and fanboys

Dedicated Star Wars fans will be familiar with the sights presented in the episode. Easter eggs abound for fans, including but not limited to the sand people, Banthas and the droids. The marshal’s speeder even looks similar to vehicles we’ve seen in the prequel movies. While the easter eggs are great fan service, they are sprinkled judiciously. As a reult, the series is friendly to Star Wars newcomers.

The first episode is a stunningly presented and tightly told self-contained story. In this regard, The Mandalorian season two premiere sets this season up to be a lot like the first: a thoroughly entertaining trip to a galaxy far, far away.
