Netflix Doubles Down On Super-Powered Dysfunctional Families In This New Series

Netflix has a fascination for adapting TV shows centered around dysfunctional families. Sometimes these families are superheroes (The Umbrella Academy) and sometimes they’re tormented by ghosts and demons (The Haunting of Hill House, Locke and Key). That’s not to say that this content is unwelcome, all the examples we mentioned are thoroughly enjoyable. Their upcoming show Jupiter’s Legacy is another instance of what is quickly becoming a sub-genre of family dramas with a supernatural or superhero element.

Based on the comic by Mark Millar, author of ‘Kickass’, Jupiter’s Legacy follows the super-powered children of superheroes in their struggle to live up to the legacy of their parents.

The recently released trailer for the show promises a fun ride for fans of the genre. Check it out here before the show drops to Netflix on Friday, May 7.

Amazon’s next is ‘The Last Hour’, its first ever Indian supernatural thriller series. The show’s trailer was unveiled earlier today.

‘Making The Cut’ Season 2 Returns In July With An Indian Contestant

We live for schadenfreude. So it’s no surprise that reality TV with its manufactured, over-the-top drama is our guilty pleasure. Of course, sometimes you get lucky and are rewarded with talented contestants, heartfelt moments and virtual travel across exotic locations. One such show that fulfilled these requirements and captured our attention last year was Amazon’s fashion reality show, ‘Making the Cut’. We’re talking talented designers competing to be the next big global fashion brand; the delightfully kooky Heidi Klum and debonair Tim Gunn as hosts; Naomi Campbell’s sharp cheekbones and sharper repartees serving high fashion looks with on-point critiques, and of course, tons of drama. What’s not to like!
