January 15 is going to be a good day cause that’s when Kajol’s upcoming film Tribhanga is all set to premiere on Netflix. Starring a powerful cast – Kajol, Tanvi Azmi, and Mithila Palkar, this film has us expectantly waiting to watch a good content-driven film.
The trailer for Tribhanga was recently released and we can see that the film revolves around the complex relationships between these three women from three different generations. Tanvi Azmi will play the role of a Nayan, an eminent writer who is a mother to Anu (Kajol) and a grandmother to Masha (Palkar). Through the trailer, we get to know that Anu hates her mother and in spite of her being hospitalized she is unable to let go of her bitterness towards her. We also see how it affects her own relationship with her daughter Masha. It’s going to be interesting to watch how these characters from a dysfunctional family deal with their relationships and flaws.
Renuka Shahane, the director of Tribhanga was inspired to write the screenplay on the complexities of a mother-daughter relationship when she heard someone say, “I hate my mother”. This film will also mark Kajol’s digital debut and she talked about the complex emotions that the film portrays – “We need to embrace these imperfections and live on our own terms, just the way Nayan, Anu, and Masha do in this film. My character is outspoken and opinionated much like how the audience knows me, yet is completely different. As a mother, I can vouch that there are challenges that women face daily as the smallest of things we do affect our children. Motherhood is a minefield of emotions captured extremely well by Renuka. I am very excited for the audience to see this film and hope it will resonate with people of all ages.”
