A portmanteau of car and artist, that is precisely what the Cartist Festival is – a celebration of art and automobiles. Touted as India’s singularly unique automobile art festival, Cartist seeks to bridge the gap between artists, automobile enthusiasts, designers and aesthetes.
Since its inception in Jaipur in 2015 by founder and managing director Himanshu Jangid, the festival has hosted thousands of car and art enthusiasts who come together to create unique and artistic end-products. The aim of the festival is to not only encourage automobile art but also provide a platform for like-minded people to connect and network over their shared interests.
In fact, so great was the response to The Cartist Festival that the years 2018 and 2019 saw pan India Cartist Yatra to promote automobile art across 20 cities such as Bengaluru, Goa, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Indore, Mumbai and Kochi.
This year, however, the festival will take place in the form of a four-day virtual event from Friday, November 27 to Monday, November 30. Short of being at the event in person, you can experience everything that makes the festival one-of-a-kind.
Workshops: Cartist will conduct a wide range of educational workshops on photography, caricature, digital art, car designing, tribal art, restoration, etc.
Exhibitions: Cartist will play host to eight solo exhibitions for young artists with the theme – automobile and art with sustainability.
Talks: Industry experts from the art and automobile sector will converge to discuss the future of the industry
Music: Performances by classical musicians and bands across genres.
Installations: Special installations will be created using junk or waste to propound the message of sustainability.
Live painting: Artists across India will participate in a live painting competition with the theme of sustainability in art and automobile.
Live car painting: Cartist will paint select cars to commemorate the festival.
