The Charsur Arts Foundation has been dedicated to the promotion, preservation and upliftment of Carnatic music in the digital age. The foundation has been nurturing talent by providing musicians a platform to showcase their skills. To that end, the foundation puts on an annual festival every December with performances by seasoned musicians. With performers taking to the internet to bring their music directly people’s homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the Charsur December Season Music Festival has gone online.
Over 15 days, starting Tuesday, December 15, you can stream performances by 30 of the biggest names in Carnatic music, including Sikkil Gurucharan (flute, pictured above), Jayanthi Kumaresh (veena) and Pranna Venkataram (vocal).
