Culture And Food Fests Worth Checking Out In Your City

The end of the year is approaching and our things-to-do-before-the-year-ends list is already in the making. It includes some of these exciting culture and festivals. Here’s a handy guide if you’re putting together your own list.

MUMBAI

Golden Feast

Nosh on all kinds of food at this vegetarian food festival, from aloo paratha and dosa to dhokla,  pizza, shawarma and keto meals. The event also has a cooking competition and a Hog-a-Thon, a food-eating marathon.
When: Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20 at 12pm.
Where: Kora Kendra Ground, Shimpoli, Borivali (West).

Social Nation

A festival for fans and content creators featuring over 100 creators from across the country. The event will have workshops and panels by content creators, performances by musicians such as Armaan Malik, Badshah and comedians such as Abish Mathew, Bhuvan Bam, Anirban Dasgupta, Ashish Shakya, and networking sessions. An event for the nerds. DELHI

Tafreeh Theatre Festival

Tafreeh Theatre Festival is the new age Diwali mela with theatre performances, music shows, stand-up comedy, shopping stalls and more.
When: Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20 at 1pm.
Where: Silly Souls Studio, Railway Colony.

The Grub Fest

The Grub Fest brings together restaurants, chefs and food brands that offer special cuisines, finger food and fusion dishes. The food carnival will also have an arcade gaming zone, music gigs, masterclasses for learners and a marketplace for shoppers. For more details, see here.

Swag Fest 3

The third edition of Swag Fest will have renowned Punjabi musicians such as Babbai Rai, Milind Gaba, Jassie Gill, B Praak, Parmish Verma and Neha Bhasin perform Punjabi and Bollywood hits.
When: Saturday, November 9 at 3pm.
Where: Leisure Valley Ground, Opposite IFFCO Towers, Sector 21, Gurgaon.

BANGALORE

Echoes Of Earth Music Festival

Echoes of Earth is a platform for artists and eco-conscious people to gather together to promote environmental awareness and a green lifestyle. In its third edition, artists such as rapper Prabh Deep, Lifafa aka the solo electronic project of singer Suryakant Sawhney, DJ Jitter aka Jayant Luthra, Kavya X Chaz aka the electro-folk-hip-hop performing duo of Kavya Trehan and Chaitanya Bhalla, folk band Gauley Bhai and DJ Stalvart John will perform jazz, Indian fusion, soul, rock and techno.
When: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 at 2pm.

Bangalore Comedy Festival

The fifth edition of the Bengaluru Comedy Festival will have more than 50 renowned stand-up comedians such as Vaibhav Sethia, Aakash Gupta, Anirban Dasgupta, Samay Raina, Abijit Ganguly, Ashish Shakya, Rahul Subramanian, Rahul Dua, Azeem Banatwalla and Rohan Joshi take to the stage.
When: Friday, November 1 to Sunday, December 1.
Where: That Comedy Club, Koramangala.

HYDERABAD

BYOB – Bring Your Own Belly

Calling all foodies in Hyderabad! Famous restaurants, food trucks, home bakers, experimental chefs and food bloggers will participate in this food carnival that will also feature music gigs and kids and pets zone.
When: Sunday, November 10 at 11am.
Where: Hitex Exhibition Center, Izzat Nagar, Kothaguda.

CHENNAI

The Madras Jazz Festival

Saxophonist and composer Brian Molley (pictured above) and his band Brian Molley Quartet from Scotland and Dutch saxophonist Maarten Visser will perform at the seventh edition of the Madras Jazz Festival. The Indian group Sanaea Bubber Jazz Collective will open the fest.
When: Friday, October 18 at 6pm.
Where: Museum Theatre, Pantheon Road, Egmore.
