In the Hindu calendar, Mārgaśīrṣa is the ninth month of the year, beginning on December 16, 2020, and ending on January 13, 2021. Known as the month of Marghazi, it’s considered an auspicious month and associated with balance and stability. It’s also considered the season of music. Celebrate that time of year with the Mumbai Margazhi Mahotsavam with the best in Carnatic music.
Inspired by the Chennai Margazhi Mahotsavam, the past editions of Mumbai Margazhi Mahotsavam had brought some of the best musicians of the Carnatic music industry to Mumbai, giving music lovers in the city a taste of the famous Chennai music season. This year brings musicians such as R. Kumaresh (violin), Jayanthi Kumaresh (veena, pictured above) among others.
