Uttar Pradesh transplant Prashasti Singh, who now calls Mumbai home, chose to be funny over being a corporate bigwig. An engineer and IIM Lucknow grad, Singh quit her cushy television company job for a career in comedy after participating in an open mic event on a lark. People sat up and took notice of the spunky and hilarious Singh when she featured as a contestant on Amazon Prime’s Comicstaan in 2018. While she may not have won the season, she definitely garnered a loyal fan base and became a popular face on the Indian comedy circuit.
Singh went on to feature in Netflix’s women-only comedy special Ladies Up with Kaneez Surka, who was a judge on Comicstaan. Singh, who hails from Amethi, very smartly weaves together anecdotes and comic observations of small-town life to create relatable and snappy Hinglish content. Her hilarious sketch on Ladies Up on life in UP, real estate, her relationship with her mother and Ravish Kumar has score over a million views.
Catch Singh live in action at That Comedy Club in Bandra from Saturday, March 27 to Sunday, March 28 at 6 pm.
