For Indian gamers, Christmas is coming super early this year. As early as Thursday, December 10 because that’s the day Cyberpunk 2077, touted as one of the most ambitious open-world RPG (role-playing game) experiences, will release worldwide on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Google Stadia.
The game is set in a megalopolis called Night City that’s obsessed with power, glamour and hedonism. Players get the opportunity to play as V, a customisable mercenary outlaw equipped with cybernetic enhancements on the lookout for the key to immortality. Along the way, you can explore the vast city, meet a plethora of cool characters and make choices that will shape how your story ends. If that’s not enough to excite you, there’s also a cameo by a famous face in the form of the legendary rockstar Johnny Silverhand played by Hollywood star, Keanu Reeves.
Developed by the Polish gaming company CD Projekt RED, the developers responsible for The Witcher series, Cyberpunk 2077 will be available as a single-player game. However, the company says a multiplayer option is in the works.
So how much of Night City will you get to explore? The world is your oyster. Not only do you get to customise and personalise V, but you also get to choose your character’s backstory. Will your V be a Nomad who starts at the Badlands located on the fringes of Night City, or a Street Kid who’s a Night City citizen that’s always in trouble with the local cops, or a Corporate who works at the renowned Arasaka Corporation in the city as a counter-intelligence agent? Regardless of what you choose, the goal is to crawl your way from the bottom of the city to the top, making friends and allies on the way, beating enemies and defeating rival gangs and factions, earning Street Cred through weapon and cybernetic enhancement. Throughout your journey, Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand will act as your guide, as he encourages you to lead the revolution against corruption.

Right from choosing the gender, look, cyberware, skills and backstory of your character to their interaction with others, to its multiple endings, this game has ensured a massive replay value for gamers.
