Everything You Need To Know About A Quiet Place

Prepare for 2018’s horror of the year – A Quiet Place

Director: John Krasinski
Writers: Bryan Woods and Scott Beck
Cast: John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe
Release Date: April 06, 2018

Horror movies have gotten a lot better in the past two years. There’s been an initiative to churn our films with unique plots rather than stick to the same old tropes. In 2016, psychological thriller Don’t Breathe managed to impress, while last year, Get Out broke records in the genre. This year, John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place is slowly becoming the topic of discussion among critics and horror movie fans. It stars the director and his real-life partner and actress, Emily Blunt, in the lead roles. A Quiet Place not only has a fresh story, but the overall take on the film seems to be fairly different. With many reviews from international publications already out, it is already said to be the best horror film of 2018

In what seems like a post-apocalyptic scenario, a family of four is forced to move out of their home into a secluded farm. However, danger lurks all around them and the only way to be safe is to be unheard. The supernatural monster that haunts the family is unseen but any sound can cause the mortals fatal harm. The family learns to live in complete silence and communicate only in sign language for survival, but can they fight the danger that threatens to kill them?

Right from the story, to the casting, and to the actual making of the film, everything about A Quiet Place makes it an exciting watch. While it is great that real-life couple John and Emily have paired up for the film, the actors who play their kids are also familiar. Millicent Simmonds, who was seen in Wonderstruck, is a deaf actress, chosen to play a deaf character. Krasinski felt that the casting would add a genuine quality to the character and even help the rest of the cast understand the disability better. Their son is played by Noah Jupe, who made appearances in Suburbicon and WonderMarco Beltrami has composed the music for this, having previously worked on Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 superhero film, Hellboy, the 2013 superhero film, The Wolverine, and its sequel, Logan.
