Before you catch the film in theatres, loads up on these facts about ‘Anek’.
‘Anek’ will be Ayushmann Khurrana’s first action film. The National Award-winner is usually known to pick out-of-the-box films. His roster includes movies such as ‘Andhadhun‘, ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui‘ and ‘Bala‘.
‘Anek’ is based on insurgency conflicts in North East India, and captures the power struggle between local paramilitary groups and the Indian military.
Anubhav Sinha was inspired to write the screenplay for ‘Anek’ after meeting his tai-chi teacher, who’s from Nagaland. Sinha realised that he didn’t know much about the people and the culture of the North East.
Andrea Kevichusa makes her Bollywood debut with this film. A model from Nagaland, she plays the role of Aido, a young girl who becomes Joshua’s (Ayushmann Khurrana) informant in the film.
Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Ayushmann Khurrana were also in Sinha’s critically acclaimed 2019 crime drama, ‘Article 15‘.
