Varun Dhawan plays a guy with a furry little problem in Maddock Films’ upcoming horror comedy, ‘Bhediya‘. Directed by Amar Kaushik (‘Stree’), the film also stars Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee, Deepak Dobriyal and Paalin Kabak. If you’re curious about ‘Bhediya’, here are a few things you need to know about the film before you catch in theatres on Friday, November 25.
1. The story of ‘Bhediya’ stalks the line between myth and reality. To ensure that the wolves in the film look authentic, the makers of the film enlisted the aid of VFX studios MPC and Weta FX. It took a year and 600 artists for the visual effects to look just as director Amar Kaushik envisioned.
2. Varun Dhawan, who essays the role of Bhaskar, worked with an animal flow teacher for six months to learn the way that wolves move. He also had to follow a strict exercise regimen to look lean and wiry, instead of extremely muscular.
3. Dhawan also had to ensure he was at his most flexible, as his role was very physically demanding. In one scene, he was required to barrel through a wall, which took 16 takes to perfect.
4. The film was shot entirely in Arunachal Pradesh, in the towns of Ziro and Sagalee and the district of Pakke-Kessang. The narrative of the film also incorporated a lot of local legends into the film, one such being the legend of Yapom.
5. ‘Bhediya’ is the third instalment of Maddock Films’ horror comedy series, which includes ‘Stree’ (2018) and ‘Roohi’ (2021). A vampire film is reportedly in the works, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
