‘Black Widow’, the movie Marvel fans are waiting for, will be out on Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, September 3. The film follows an impressive line of action releases that have women at the center. Here are our absolute favourite female-led action films.
1. ‘Kill Bill’ (2003)
Uma Thurman‘s ‘The Bride’ is one of the most memorable characters from all action films. Her revenge-seeking saga with this film and its sequel make up some of Quentin Tarantino‘s best work.
2. ‘Hanna’ (2011)
Before getting the attention of the Oscars with ‘Lady Bird‘ in 2017, Saoirse Ronan played a teenager who had been trained by her father to become an assassin in this praise-worthy action film.
3. ‘The Hunger Games’ (2012)
Based on Suzanne Collins‘ best-selling trilogy, this film series brought Jennifer Lawrence into the limelight. The dystopian action film was immensely popular. Three sequels were released in the following three years.
4. ‘Wonder Woman’ (2017)
The first female superhero film from DC proved itself to be better than most of the films released before it. Gal Gadot was perfect for the role of Wonder Woman and the sequel was just as good, if not better.
5. ‘Atomic Blonde’ (2017)
Charlize Theron showed that she was great in action films with ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ and this film, in which she got to lead the stylish action-thriller as an MI6 agent.
