After the horrors of the coronavirus, horror filmmakers will have to step up their game because there isn’t a ghost in the supernatural realm that can scare us more than reality right now. Of course, if there’s a man who is up to the task, it is James Wan. The creator behind many horror movie franchises like ‘Insidious’, ‘Saw’, ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘Annabelle’, Wan’s films can be counted on for chills and thrills. He’s back with yet another film in ‘The Conjuring’ series, which is set to release in theatres this week. ‘The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It’ is directed by Michael Chaves and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Wan serves as producer alongside Peter Safran.
What ‘The Conjuring 3’ is about
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are reprising their roles in the film as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. This time, they are faced with one of their most challenging cases when a murder suspect claims to be possessed by a demon. A chilling story of terror, murder and evil follows when the couple investigates the truth behind the man’s claims as the fight for the soul of a young boy takes them beyond anything they have seen before. The movie is based on a true story about the first time in US history when a murder suspect claimed demonic possession as a defence.
Why you should watch the film
If you have watched the movies of The Conjuring Universe, you know that they only get better. ‘The Conjuring’ released in 2013 and was all the rage back then. Fans could not get enough of the movie’s eerie plotline and jump scares. ‘The Conjuring’ 2 released in 2016, giving us the scariest demon of all time, Valak. This character became so popular with the fans that a separate movie had to be created for her origin story. ‘The Nun’ released in 2018 and even though this film did not meet fan expectations, it was a roaring success in the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise. While ‘The Conjuring’ 3 does not follow the events of the second film, will Valak make a surprise return for Lorraine? We are not counting it out just yet!
‘The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It’ will release in theatres in India on August 13. Click on ‘Interested’ for more updates on the upcoming film.
